We spoke with Cities of London and Westminster's Prospective MP Tim Barnes, on the day of the Conservative manifesto launch. Tim explains
"I've been out and about talking with residents and meeting with businesses.
"And, in between, I've been trying to get to grips with some of what's in the manifesto and the implications of it.
"I'm delighted that there are so many commitments that will help to meet the priorities that I've set out for Our Plan here in Cities of London and Westminster.
"On crime. We have a commitment for 8,000 more police officers on top of the over 20,000 that have already been brought in across the country.
"For a commitment to public services, we have 92,000 new nurses and 28,000 new doctors that are being committed to as well.
"On housing, we've got a plan to build 1.6 million new homes, which will definitely make a big difference both to the availability and to the affordability of homes.
"And I'm delighted that many of those are going to be possible for the first time in parts of the country, where we really need the most, including here. I can just hope that we're going to be able to push for many of those to be family units and not just flats, and that's something that I'll work on over time.
"Also I'm delighted by the fact that there's a meaningful commitment to tax reduction in terms of the 2 pence cut to income tax and to many other reductions on taxes for self-employed workers. This will really help boost the ladder of opportunity that we find and the ability for many people to be able to go out there and keep what they earn and make sure that it's something that's worth doing.
"So this is a really, really strong manifesto, I think, to address the main concerns that we see every day in the Cities of London and Westminster.
